DomainKeys Identified Mail
Discover more about DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) and also how this feature might help your business.
DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is an email validation system used to prove that an email message has been sent by an authorized person or email server. An e-signature is attached to the header of the message using a private cryptographic key. When the message is received, a public key that is available in the global DNS database is used to validate who exactly sent it and if the content has been altered in any way. The fundamental function of DKIM is to obstruct the widely spread spam and scam emails, as it makes it impossible to fake an email address. If an email is sent from an address claiming to belong to your bank, for example, but the signature does not match, you will either not get the email at all, or you’ll receive it with an alert that most likely it’s not authentic. It depends on email service providers what exactly will happen with an email message that fails the signature test. DomainKeys Identified Mail will also provide you with an additional safety layer when you communicate with your business associates, for example, as they can see that all the email messages that you exchange are legitimate and haven’t been tampered with in the meantime.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Cloud Hosting
If you purchase any of the
Linux cloud packages that we are offering, the DomainKeys Identified Mail functionality will be enabled as standard for any domain name that you add to your website hosting account, so you will not need to set up any records or to do anything manually. When a domain is added in the Hosted Domains section of our custom-made Hepsia Control Panel using our NS and MX records (so that the email messages related to this domain will be handled by our cloud web hosting platform), a private key will be created instantaneously on our mail servers and a TXT resource record with a public key will be sent to the DNS database. All email addresses set up using this domain name will be protected by DKIM, so if you send out emails such as regular newsletters, they will reach their target destination and the receivers will be sure that they are authentic, as the DKIM option makes it impossible for unauthorized persons to spoof your addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Hosting
All necessary DKIM records will be set up automatically by our cloud web hosting platform when you add a domain as hosted in a
semi-dedicated server account, so if you decide to order a semi-dedicated package, you will not have to configure anything to be able to use the email authentication system. The domain must use our name servers so that its DNS resource records can be managed by us and in case this condition is answered, a private cryptographic key will be created on our mail servers and a public key will be published to the Domain Name System by a special TXT record. All email addresses that you create using the domain will be protected by DKIM, which will make it impossible for 3rd parties to spoof any address. Both you and your colleagues or clients can take advantage of this functionality, since it will guarantee a higher protection level for your e-correspondence.
